Other Minds Head to Iceland for the Nordic Festival

Rare 10-Day Travel Package Tailored to New Music Lovers

New music champion Other Minds has organized a travel adventure designed to be virtually irresistible to any new music enthusiast.  From 01 - 10 October 2011, Other Minds Executive and Artistic Director Charles Amirkhanian will lead an expedition to breathtakingly beautiful Iceland at the time of the Nordic Music Days Festival, an annual event celebrating the music and culture of the nordic countries every year since 1888. "We have arranged an unforgettable journey for those who join us," says Mr.Amirkhanian.  "We'll start with a few days exploring Iceland's villages and countryside, visiting glaciers, lava fields, black sand beaches, geysers, waterfalls and the spectacular Blue Lagoon. Once we settle back in Reykjavík, one major highlight of our trip will be the opportunity to attend concerts at Harpa, Iceland's newly-christened waterfront music complex - encompassing four concert halls and two restaurants - which just opened this year."

The Nordic Music Days Festival is held in a different country each year, and one out of five years it surfaces in the Icelandic capital Reykjavík. The Festival will offer twelve concerts over four days (06-09 October 2011), presenting composers from Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, and the Faeroe Islands in performances of their latest compositions, ranging from solo laptop music to world premieres for large orchestra. The Iceland Symphony Orchestra will perform the opening festival concert, featuring Crystallizations for Violin, Accordion and Orchestra by Uljas Pulkkis, conducted by Martyn Brabbins. Other concerts for chamber orchestra and ensembles, choirs, children's ensembles and electronic media will follow. Other Minds guests will have passes to all events of the Nordic Music Days Festival, including an opening reception and awards ceremony at Harpa.

For those who would like to further spice up their experience in Reykjavík, Other Minds will also provide visits to galleries and art museums. Other Minds guests will stay at the comfortable Hotel Arnahvoll, a five minute walk from Harpa and right in the midst of city walking trails, shopping areas, museums and other sites of interest.

For this truly exceptional and multi-dimensional trip of a lifetime, Other Minds has negotiated deals with providers of lodging, transportation, and the Festival itself. The cost per person in a double room is 1,525 € (approx. $2212), plus roundtrip airfare; there is an additional 250 € (approx. $363) cost for a single room. The tour price includes:
